In all fairness it was brilliant to see ol’ Peehead & KayBob, Milan & Melanie, Kevin & Sharon, Donna & Jessica in Cobh for the last week or so lashing out the songs and tunes like only they can. Donna Moore Minton & Jessica Moore Jewell were on their first visit to Cobh and shur you’d swear they were regulars, sweet voices to boot! I have one or two pics and maybe a video or two to go up in the next day or two.
News has reached us that them folks from Nordcarlina have reached our shores and are currently being led astray by a ukulele donned troubadour and his sidekick in far off Dingle, Slea Head & other such Wild Atlantic Ways. Arriving in Cobh on Monday (ish), they’ll be joined by the Nashvillians so we can expect plenty of pickin’ and strummin’ and singin’. Bring it on, I say.
On Thursday, they all head to Sirius for an intimate little gig – see ya there.
A one o clock start for the match on Sunday means a lot of the ‘lads’ will be in bed by eight o clock that evening! A win would see the semi final the following Sunday with a more respectable start time of 16.00!
Better stock up on the cocktail sausages.
Good to see a room dedicated to the arts!
Cobh Blues Festival kicks off this Friday and continues over the weekend. The Donkey will have a bit of music on Saturday night with the Hitmen - hopefully the Sniper won't be there.
Full details on the Festival here.
"Jeez Holly we're going have to put up theses snacks somewhere so the punters can buy 'em"
"Good idea, Dad. There's a display board comes with them. Just hang 'em up on that."
"Naw gurl, they won't see 'em there. We'll have to display 'em so they they're facing the punters and they'll get hungry and then buy them".
"Good idea, Dad. Get a bit of sellotape or a bit of Blutak and we'll stick 'em on to the shelf".
"Naw, gurl. I'll get some 1/16" screws just to make sure they won't fall down!".
"Eh, yeah Dad".
Welcome to the Donkey internet, Tiggy ;).
I'm not sure if these were put up or not. In any case, they might be worth looking at again. A few from the first of the final nights of the long goodbye. This was the weekend of May 22nd/24th. Enjoy.
A sporting weekend on the way. A bit of footie tonight with the Ireland Gibraltar match. Tomorrow afternoon it's Ireland and England in the Rugby and a bit of music after that. And then there's the GAA.
OK, like. First of all, don't panic. All the old pages are still there - just give me time to add links. Should have it done by Christmas!
